Having grown up around filmmaking under the guidance of his producer father Neville, Paul went on to complete a BA in English Literature with Film Studies at King's College London in 2014. In 2015, Paul's first produced screenplay was teen supernatural thriller; 'Unhallowed Ground'. It received awards at the London Independent Film Festival and the British Independent Film Festival. In 2016, Paul made his directorial debut with supernatural-psychological horror; 'Winterstoke House' (which he also wrote and acted in). Paul's second feature as a writer-director was 'White Chamber', which was shot in 12.5 days. In 2018, the sci-fi thriller/horror/drama played 10 film festivals around the world including Edinburgh, Sitges, Frightfest, Mumbai, BIFAN and Brussels. Lead actress Shauna Macdonald received the BAFTA Scotland Best Actress award for her tour-de-force performance. Between August 2019 and February 2021, the film was available to stream on Netflix in the UK, USA, Canada, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. Paul's third project as director, 'The Complex', a sci-fi interactive feature film/ FMV video game, released in 2020 on all major gaming platforms. Penned by Lynn Renee Maxcy, it stars Michelle Mylett, Kate Dickie and Al Weaver. It was produced by John Giwa-Amu and Jade Alexander. In 2020, Paul wrote and directed 'Five Dates', a romantic interactive feature film/ FMV video game. It was being made entirely remotely during the UK's national lockdown due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. It stars an ensemble cast including Mandip Gill (Doctor Who), Georgia Hirst (Vikings) and Marisa Abela (Industry). In 2021, Paul wrote and directed 'The Gallery' - an interactive hostage thriller that contains two narratives - before the film begins, the viewer must choose between a female protagonist (whose narrative is set in 1981 London) or a male protagonist (whose narrative is set in 2021 London). The cast is headlined by Anna Popplewell ('Chronicles Of Narnia' & 'Reign') and George Blagden ('Versailles' & 'Vikings'), who interchange roles as both protagonist and antagonist across the two narratives. The cast also includes Rebecca Root ('Boy Meets Girl' & 'The Queen's Gambit'), Shannon Tarbet ('Beast' & 'Genius'), Fehinti Balogun ('I May Destroy You' & 'Viewpoint') and Kara Tointon ('Eastenders' & 'Mr Selfridge').

Paul Ray started his acting career at the fresh age of 13 when he wrote and directed his first short film for a middle school project. He made several films in school and animated a series of stop motion cartoons and 2D animations, which he produced for YouTube in his spare time. At age 15 he attended Austin Film Festival's Screen Writing camp and again at age 16. During High school Paul performed in school plays. Also at age 15 and 16, he was apart of two Destination Imagination competitions where his team placed 2nd the first year. They were awarded the Davinci Award that year and the next year his team received the Spirit of DI Award. He performed with his local community theater programs the following years, Lago Vista Players & Lake Travis Musical Theater Inc. Once 18, Paul started attending the monthly Network Austin Mixers where he met his first theatrical and commercial agent, Tory from Tory Christopher Group, based in San Antonio, TX. Shortly after, Paul worked on a short film titled, My Mother's Eyes, where he was cast for his first lead role. During his time in Austin, TX, Paul performed for projects such as American Crime, Cold Comfort, As Far as the Eye Can See, including commercials for Doritos and BB&T Bank. Paul Ray began modeling at age 19 and modeled for his first cover on Austin Wedding Style Magazine in 2016. At age 22, Paul moved to Los Angeles, CA. He linked up with DéCayette Talent Agency for commercial and Bounty Models for print and runway almost immediately. Paul continues to write and direct his own films today. During his few years in LA he has acted in films such as Deadly Daughter Switch, 3 Day Pay or Quit, Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow, including a commercial for WOM wireless and music videos with Niia, Molly, Salem Ilese, & Pink Sweats.
